The Sustainable Schools Alliance aims to provide a clear and compelling offer of support to all schools in the country, and help them to put sustainability at the heart of what they do.
The evidence for the benefits of Sustainable Schools is stronger than ever. However, the government’s focus on greater school freedom means local and civil society organizations must act to help schools to pursue sustainability.
The Alliance is not a separate organisation; instead it is a network, working on the behalf of all of us and through which existing organisations can work together more effectively. Initially there were three working group leaders: the National Children’s Bureau (NCB), Think Global and Sustainability and Environmental Education (SEEd). SEEd is now the only working group member and taking forward the new structure to sustain the Sustainable Schools Alliance. For governance reasons the Sustainable Schools Alliance is now run through SEEd, which acts as the secretariat.
